On May 19, 2010, The CATAAlliance (Canadian Advanced Technology Alliance) honoured Alcatel-Lucent with a prestigious Innovation Award at their 25th annual Gala for the company’s work driving mobile connectivity through the ng Connect Program. The program is a multi-industry ecosystem of leading network, device, application and content suppliers developing pre-integrated examples of applications and services for ultra-high bandwidth networks.
In the ceremony attended by guests within the technology industry and government, Dan Dodge, CEO, QNX Software Systems presented Alcatel-Lucent with the ‘Mobile Platform’ category award for the company’s leadership in the development of the LTE Connected Car, a prototype vehicle that showcases the potential for the next generation in-car mobile experience. The award was presented to Silvio Fernandez, of Alcatel-Lucent’s Emerging Technology & Media team, which leads the ng Connect Program. In addition, Mr. Fernandez also participated in a panel discussion on the future of mobility with Mr. Dodge and Ben Riley, U.S. Defense Department.
The 2010 Innovation Awards Gala took place at the Telfer School of Management, University of Ottawa. Paul Brent, host of CJOH TV's Tech Now was the Master of Ceremonies. The awards program celebrates the best in Canadian innovation and outstanding achievement in the high-technology sector.
