What is a service concept?
Service concepts are the tangible output of the ng Connect Program. They are prototype solutions for next generation services in a variety of areas that touch our lives, including entertainment, retail, health & wellness, transportation and connected learning. Service concepts include technologies from ng Connect member companies, along with conceptual business models and primary research to further test the market validity of a potential service offering.
How is a service concept created?
Ideas for new service concepts come from ng Connect members and are shared through a variety of platforms (online tools, face to face meetings, etc.). These ideas are qualified based on the appeal of the use case, the innovation potential, and the business model opportunity. Collaborating members determine feature sets in “Think Tank” sessions, which then give way to agile development efforts. The goal is a prototype solution that can be demonstrated and potentially even brought to market by a customer of a member company.
Where can I see them?
Primarily at tradeshows. ng Connect service concepts have been showcased in the booths of Alcatel-Lucent, member companies, and service providers at the Consumer Electronics Show and Mobile World Congress as well as regional events around the globe. Many Alcatel-Lucent Executive Briefing Centers (EBCs) feature ng Connect service concepts for viewing by customers, reporters and analysts.
